§ 10-4. Fees.

  • (a)

    All fees or charges for services shall be payable to the township and paid at the township hall or to a designee of the township clerk. Such charges or fees shall be established, subject to change from time to time, by resolution of the township board.

    (b)

    No township employee may solicit or accept any form of payment or gratuity for work or services rendered. Township employees at the cemetery are not permitted to do any work for burial rights holders or interested parties except upon the direct order of the superintendent of cemeteries.

    (c)

    The township board may establish lower fees for residents than it establishes for those persons who are not residents.

    (1)

    For grave opening fees only when the deceased is a former resident, lower resident interment fees may be charged only if both of the following conditions are met: (a) deceased was a resident during at least ten of the last 15 years and (b) the deceased and/or spouse of the deceased purchased and/or obtained ownership of the interment rights as a resident at least five years prior to the interment. All other services would be charged at non-resident rates.

    (d)

    The full purchase price of the designated gravesite and the full fee for a grave opening shall be paid before any proposed interment occurs.

    (e)

    Arrangements for the payment of any further indebtedness due the township for an interment in the cemetery shall be made before the proposed interment occurs.

    (f)

    The charges for any disinterment or removal shall be paid in advance.
