§ 10-36. Monument and marker size.

Latest version.
  • The table in this section is for monument and marker sizing and shall be followed by all companies and dealers who deliver monuments and markers to the cemetery. Any monument or marker delivered to the cemetery with oversized dimensions shall be unacceptable and subject to immediate removal. However, because monumental stone is a natural product and is difficult to conform to absolute dimensions and fabrications, a tolerance of one-half inch is allowable for specific dimensions. This tolerance applies to both the base and the die. The following table contains dimensions (height includes both base and die) for the maximum memorial sizes:

Type of Memorial Length (inches) Width (inches) Height
    Flush marker 28 14 4 inches
    (below the surface)
    Bevel marker 28 14 8 inches
    Slant marker 28 14 18 inches
Double marker 48 14 Height as for single marker
    Babyland marker 16 8 8 inches
    Monument 32 14 30 inches
    Double monument 60 14 48 inches
Family monument Must be approved by superintendent of cemeteries
